Katherine Heigl discusses how growing up as a child within a "white bubble" changed the way she parented her adopted multiracial family. The actress from "Firefly Lane", revealed to an interviewer that it was not important how dark her skin color was for her. However, after meeting her adopted Korean American older sister, she noticed the differences in how people took care of her. Meg was asked if the way she was treated differed in the times they went out with their parents, and when they went alone. Meg replied "Oh, yes, every time!" This made me realize I was so ignorant," Heigl said to parents. She became enraged by the incident, and decided to channel her anger into assist her daughters who were adopted by her. Heigl as well as her husband of 13 years -- singer Josh Kelley -- have four-year-old son Joshua Bishop Kelley, Joshua Bishop Kelley, Jr. Their daughter was adopted by them Nancy Leigh, 12, from South Korea in 2009 and Adalaide 8 years old, who is Black and was adopted in 2012.
