Cheney stated that, when he decided to accept the Republican nomination for vice president Cheney was looking forward to working alongside a President who could work with a wide range of political parties and with political rivals in good faith with common visions. Richard Bruce Cheney was born in Lincoln Nebraska on January 30 1941. He was the son Richard Herbert Cheney and the former Marjorie Lauraine Dickey. When he was 13 years old, he emigrated with his family from Nebraska to Casper in the western state of Wyoming and his father was the director of the district for soil conservation in Casper for the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
